On Tuesday the 13th of Februrary P6/7 went on a visit to the Crofthouse Museum. The bus picked the class up at 9.15am and took us down to the museum. The class was split into two groups because the croft was so small there wasn’t enough room for everyone in there at once. The first group went down whilst the second group had to stay on the bus where they kept themselves amused for half an hour.
The door into the crofthouse was tiny and inside it was really cold. The guide showed us the but end, ben end, the byre and the barn. The crofthouse had no windows as they needed to keep all the heat in the house. Heat came from a peat fire in the but end and also from the body heat from the animals kept in the byre!!
Particular highlights of the trip were seeing the boxbeds, learning that the byre wasn’t cleaned out all winter (smelly!) and also the random singing on the bus (twinkle twinkle little star?!).
A big thankyou to the parent helpers who came along.

I just wanted to say hi and let you know how fascinated I am by the goings on in Shetland. I’ve always wanted to visit and haven’t managed it yet. Maybe one day I can come and help you on a podcast
Have to see if the bosses will agree to that in this day of virtual help.
If you want some ideas on recording audio to catch trips like this one you might want to try this site:

Best of luck!

The picture is interesting, What is it like inside ? I’ve been to shetland before and it was really nice and relaxing. My family and I went to Shetland for a holiday last year and my sister trained there with one of the world’s best gymnasts. Write back to me soon.
